The World Has Gone Insane

Remember your dad or grandpa sitting around complaining that life ain’t what it used to be? You know you’ve aged when you start thinking the exact same thing. We used to laugh at them, calling them old and out of touch because they couldn’t see past their own nostalgia. Nowadays, I dare ask if this isn’t the truth and not simply me just looking through rose-tinted glasses.

Let’s see if we can look at this objectively. During my lifetime, one of the most stable years, socially and economically has been the Clinton years (Clinton took office 1/20/93-1/20/01). Yes, this is objective. America was thriving and growing. We were outpacing every other country in terms of development. The Cold War with Russia had ended. We actually had a surplus budget and enacted programs to help our citizens. We weren’t in any major wars with other countries. Life for the most part was quite idyllic. I won’t discount the terrorist attacks that occurred – OKC and WTC bombings come to mind. However there was always a sense of hope and moving past and forward in almost everybody’s minds and eyes. The biggest scandal was the president getting impeached for getting a blowjob in the White House (technically it was perjury for concealment of the affair)!

Fast-forward to 2025 and people are just…tired and defeated. September 11, two financial crises, a world pandemic that shut people in for several years and a political divide that affects not just the US, but the entire world. And so many scandals that it’ll make your head spin! Cough…Epstein…cough. People are mean – openly hostile even. There is no sense of decorum or civility, online or in person. The air is crunchy and palpable with derisiveness. Every adult I’ve talked to that’s younger than 40 just seem to “exist.” Many don’t think they’ll ever own a house. Most will die with the student loans. Their biggest goal is to not get sick, knowing that medical debt would ruin them. And that’s just the financial pain.

Isolation is a big factor as well. Social media hasn’t brought us closer – it’s just divided us even more. Rage-baiting gets the views and people just seem to want to be angry. There is no sense of community. You’re either with us, or against us, is the sentimentality a lot of people have. Screw everybody else. When presented with facts, people don’t adapt and learn; they dig in their heels instead and double down on being wrong. How dare you question my opinions! I will cancel you!

Cronyism has always existed, but now it’s just plain corruption. Educated, qualified people getting replaced with people who lie and will fall in line, in order to deliver brainwashing narratives. Facts replaced by feels is policy, and politicians continue to push divisive agendas. Despite crime being lower across the board, we’re made to think that it’s dangerous to step out of the house. Emphasis is put on being scared of the boogeyman, the unknown. All the while our kids are being shot in schools, and apparently nothing can be done about the real, preventable, in your face injustice that is occurring.

So yeah, the world has changed. Nobody feels secure. Everyone is angry. And worse of all. Egg prices still haven’t gone down!
